PHYSIOTHERAPY IN DAPTO & UNANDERRA
Knee pain physiotherapy
Knee pain making stairs, walking, squatting or running harder? I assess your symptoms and help you build a practical plan for returning to everyday movement, work and exercise.
Different problems can cause knee pain
Knee pain can involve kneecap-related pain, tendon problems, ligament or meniscus injuries, or osteoarthritis. Symptoms may follow an injury or build gradually. A painful knee does not tell us the diagnosis on its own.
What I assess
We discuss how symptoms began, swelling or instability, previous injuries and the activities you want to return to. I assess relevant knee movement, strength and functional tasks such as walking, stepping or squatting, considering the hip, ankle and other factors where appropriate.
Rehabilitation built around your goals
Your plan may include adapting aggravating activities, movement practice and progressive strength and conditioning. We choose exercises suited to your current capacity and build toward the demands of stairs, work, running or sport. For rehabilitation after surgery, I take your surgeon’s instructions and any relevant precautions into account.
Can I keep exercising?
This depends on your presentation and how your knee responds. I help you decide what to modify, what you can keep doing and when to progress. We review symptoms, function and capacity rather than follow a fixed recovery schedule.
If osteoarthritis is your main concern, explore my osteoarthritis care page.
When to seek medical care
Seek urgent medical assessment if you cannot put weight on your knee, it is badly swollen or has changed shape, it locks, or it is hot and red alongside a fever or feeling unwell. Don’t wait for a routine physiotherapy appointment.
