PHYSIOTHERAPY IN DAPTO & UNANDERRA
Shoulder pain physiotherapy
Reaching overhead, getting dressed or training becoming uncomfortable? I assess what is limiting your shoulder and help you build a plan for moving and using it more confidently.
Shoulder symptoms have different causes
Shoulder pain can involve rotator cuff-related problems, frozen shoulder, joint conditions or pain referred from the neck. Pain, stiffness and weakness need to be considered together rather than assuming one diagnosis from a single symptom.
What I assess
We discuss how symptoms started, any injury, your sleep, daily tasks and exercise demands. I assess relevant movement, strength and functional tasks, and consider the neck or nervous system where your presentation suggests this is relevant.
Rehabilitation built around your goals
Your plan may include movement practice, progressive strengthening, adapting aggravating tasks and education about managing your symptoms. Exercises are chosen for your current capacity and progressed toward reaching, lifting, work or sport. Hands-on treatment may be used when appropriate; your progress guides the next step.
What if my shoulder is very stiff?
Stiffness can have several causes, including frozen shoulder. Assessment helps clarify the presentation and set realistic goals. We discuss an appropriate starting level, expected progression and whether medical review is needed.
Seek urgent medical assessment after an injury if there is deformity, sudden swelling or intense pain.
