PHYSIOTHERAPY IN DAPTO & UNANDERRA
Persistent pain physiotherapy
When pain keeps returning or lasts longer than expected, it can be hard to know what to do next. I help you understand your presentation and find practical ways to rebuild movement, confidence and daily capacity.
What is persistent pain?
Persistent pain, also called chronic pain, commonly means pain lasting at least three months or beyond expected healing. It is real and can affect sleep, mood, work and activity. Sometimes there is an ongoing tissue problem; sometimes several factors contribute.
I start by listening
We discuss your history, previous care, flare-ups, what you have stopped doing and what matters to you. I assess relevant muscles, joints, movement and neurological factors, while considering sleep, stress and activity patterns. A nervous-system-informed approach does not mean assuming pain is “all in your head”.
A practical rehabilitation plan
Your care may include pain education, graded exercise, activity pacing and relevant regulation strategies. We choose achievable steps and review how you respond, aiming to reduce the extent to which pain controls your day. I work within physiotherapy scope and recommend other professional support when it would help.
Do I need to be pain-free before moving?
The goal is to find an appropriate starting point, not push through every symptom. We agree on a manageable level, discuss responses and build capacity gradually. There are no guaranteed outcomes or preset recovery timelines.
