PHYSIOTHERAPY IN DAPTO & UNANDERRA
Back pain & disc-related symptoms
Back pain affecting bending, sitting, lifting or sleep? I assess your symptoms and movement, then help you work toward the activities you need for daily life, work and exercise.
Disc herniation and sciatica
A herniated or prolapsed disc can irritate nearby nerves and contribute to pain, tingling, numbness or weakness. Sciatica describes symptoms travelling into the leg. Not every disc change causes symptoms, and back pain does not always come from a disc.
What I assess
I start with your symptom history, any injury, how symptoms behave and what is limiting you. Assessment may include movement, strength and relevant nerve function. If you have a scan report, bring it along; I consider it together with your symptoms and examination.
A plan for returning to movement
Your care may include education, activity modification and progressive exercise to rebuild movement and capacity. We choose a starting point suited to your presentation, review your response and work toward sitting, lifting, walking or training more confidently. Where needed, I recommend medical assessment or coordinate with your treating team.
When to seek medical care
Seek emergency care for back pain with new numbness around the groin or bottom, difficulty passing urine, loss of bladder or bowel control, or following a serious accident. Worsening weakness or numbness needs prompt medical review. Don’t wait for a routine physiotherapy appointment.
